This course focuses on the development of basic interior and spatial design skills in the context of Milan – world centre for design innovation. Working with a selection of experienced professionals in the fields of architecture and design, you will learn about design and project culture in Italy, and explore a variety of visualization and presentation techniques aimed to enhance your creative portfolio. The emphasis will be placed on combining input from multiple disciplines including contemporary architecture, product design and multimedia to achieve a valuable design project. A range of visits to design studios, factories and exhibition spaces, in addition to a tour of showrooms and retail concepts will support the studio sessions. In the Naba model-making workshop you will be taught how to turn your plans into an architectural model, an indispensable tool for communicating your projects. By the end of your experience in Milan you will have completed a professional interior/spatial design project using a methodological approach to concept, design and presentation phases.

The present course is combined with a 2-week course of Italian language starting on June the 19th (45 hours of classes).
This 4-week course (2 weeks of design, and 2 weeks of Italian) corresponds to 6 US transfer credits.
